Non-linear wave action on structures and ships

Maison Pacha-Tamaris, La Seyne-sur-Mer, near Toulon September 4 1998
This event was hosted by the Universitι de Toulon et du Var, Institut des Sciences de l'Ingιnieur

Purpose of the workshop
The purpose of the workshop was to give an overview of the latest advances in wave action on structures and ships. This embraced offshore structures, FPSO's, flexible risers, and breakwaters, amongst others. Whether, in deep, or shallow water high wave situations, the non-linearity in the fluid-structure interaction plays an important role; this Workshop focussed on this interaction and its consequences.

The notes

The notes from this Workshop will be of interest to Graduate and Postgraduate students of coastal oceanography, marine engineering, ocean engineering, coastal engineering, mechanical and structural engineering, while the practical nature of the presentations and their relevance to offshore and coastal structures and ships also means they will be of interest to practising engineers and designers in the shipbuilding and offshore sectors, as well as coastal and harbour management personnel, naval architects, and consultants.

Presenters

Members of the presentation team are known experts from marine industries, research organisations and universities. They have specific knowledge in wave modelling applied to coastal and offshore engineering, and shipbuilding.
