WEGEMT builds on the core business of its Associates to deliver a range of services including Research and Training Project Management, the coordination and delivery of high quality Training Events, Workshops and Seminars, Provision of Experts for project participation or evaluation, and to offer a comprehensive selection of Publications for Sale which can be used by students, researchers and practicing engineers alike.

The WEGEMT brand has been stamped on over 25 Advanced Technology Training Events called "Schools". Since 1991 most of these have received support from the EC. WEGEMT coordinated four Schools in 1998 and five are already confirmed for 2000 to 2001, with others being developed. WEGEMT is the administrative coordinator and Manager of technology transfer for an EC funded Thematic Network on Design for Safety An Integrated Approach to Safe European RoRo Ferry Design. This project is worth over 1.5MECU over four years (1997 - 2001).

As a focal point for a network of Universities, WEGEMT is a "one stop shop" for customers seeking academic expertise for research and training initiatives in the field of marine technology and related sciences. WEGEMT seeks to add value, create synergy and focus on goal-oriented projects which actively encourage the involvement of its Associates and which serve to satisfy customer needs. This is especially true where the customer happens to be industry, although our activities will benefit any organisations which seek out the WEGEMT brand.
